Furphy Beer

Little Creatures Brewing (owned by Lion Beer Spirits and Wine Australia) built their breweries in Fremantle and Geelong using stainless steel tanks and fermenters supplied by Furphy Engineering.  When they completed the Geelong brewery they were keen to make a beer with a local connection to Victoria and approached us about adding a new beer to their repertoire – “Furphy Refreshing Ale”.

After approaching us with the idea we discussed the concept in detail with them and we are pleased to be partners in bringing this beer to life and, in turn, bringing the story of Furphy to a wider audience.

The beer was launched in July 2014 at the Geelong brewery.  Speaking at the event Furphy Head Brewer, Warren Pawsey said: “We are very proud of this new brew we have created at Little Creatures in Geelong, but we couldn’t have done it without the quality Victorian ingredients we had to work with.”

“Initial inspiration for Furphy Refreshing Ale started with an Old style German ale which is still brewed in Cologne and called Kölsch,” added Pawsey.

The end result is a clean, crisp, delicately balanced beer with subtle fruity flavours and aromas. Deep gold in colour and slightly hazy, there is a subdued maltiness balanced with subdued hop flavours which leads to a pleasantly refreshing finish.
